TALKS & WORKSHOPS

3-5 OCTOBER 2025
HYDRA ISLAND GREECE

ART WORKSHOPS

HYDRA ARTS LAB

Collaborations with Hydra Art Labs and award-winning Greek artist Dimitris Fousekis have opened private art studios to the public, fostering dialogue between creators, patrons and audiences through intimate encounters and public pop-up exhibitions that celebrate the intersection of film and the wider creative arts. Working with local educators and youth facilitators, we have delivered hands-on creative workshops for teenagers.

  • We release control and move with colour, embracing the trust and connection inspired by our surroundings. Each of us is an equally vital part of this collective work. Through a mixed media approach, we bring our individual worlds into dialogue. Our focus lies in the process rather than the outcome. The anticipation of the final stroke is both powerful and revealing. The synergy that emerges is healing and nurturing. Form, light, and movement become our shared instruments. Our muse is the imprint, both visible and felt, of this island, encircled by water and shaped by a distinct history and boundless potential. In this moment, our paths converge."

STEPHEN APPLEBY-BARR

  • Stephen Appleby-Barr will lead an artist workshop for children focused on animal welfare awareness and kind co-existence with animals, reflecting Hydra’s reputation as a “cat island”, through a theme also of the role of cats as muses for artists. We will collaborate closely with animal organizations such as Hydra Ark to raise awareness of the intersection between art and nature, and to highlight the mental health and creative benefits of caring for animals.

MUSIC, WORDS & MOVEMENT

MIKIS THEODORAKIS

This is a featured workshop to rather than placing all the information in an accordian below I would rather have a decent sized write-up here with a single according below it to fill out details on how to partipate in this workshop.

The reasoning for this is so that I can resolve layouts with 4 items instead of 3, as making just a row of 4 was squishing them up too much and I am almost certain we will need at least a moderate amount of width to make the information about these workshops able to be consumed easily.
