2025 FILMS
HYDRA ISLAND GREECE
3-5 OCTOBER 2025
Our surprise opening night film - like all six feature films in our program apart from our Sophia Loren classics - will be fresh from the film festival circuit and followed by thought-provoking Q&As with the filmmakers. Screenings will take place under the stars at Hydra’s beloved open-air Gardenia cinema, as well as at other cherished locations across the island.
We’re thrilled to welcome back ArtCinema alumnus Oliver Bruck, who returns with a screening of his feature documentary Mirella. The film explores the extraordinary life of 93-year-old Kenyan-Italian photographer Mirella Ricciardi, known for her acclaimed 1971 book Vanishing Africa, that captured the people and landscapes of the continent with striking intimacy. We also hope to present an accompanying exhibition of her work.
We’re also excited to present the world premiere of our new documentary, Hydra & Sophia: Echoes of a Dolphin, which features Hydriots sharing their own stories of Sophia Loren’s iconic visit to the island in 1956.
We are deeply grateful to our industry friends and film patrons who help us curate this world-class weekend of cinema. The full program will be announced in the coming weeks, aside from our surprise opening night.

ARTCINEMA PATRON CIRCLE
Patronage can take many forms, as one beloved Greek art patron describes it: supporting creativity might mean collecting, curating events and exhibitions, building networks, or simply nurturing friendships and relationships that contribute to cultural life. At ArtCinema, we welcome all who share this spirit.
Inspired by the ancient Greek tradition of Euergetes - the "Benefactor"- ArtCinema proudly honors the generosity of our guests and partners who want to join us in empowering the next generation of global filmmakers and artists to thrive.
