Guest artist Annu Yadav will lead an art workshop for children, sharing how the histories of surrealism, cubism and Indian folk art influenced her work, and demonstrating how Art can elicit powerful changes in individuals

Guest artist Stephen Appleby-Barr will teach Hydra youth the golden rules of the centuries old artform of oil painting, coupled with discussions on where and how to find inspiration, and what Art means to his young students.

MUSIC, WORDS & MOVEMENT
MICHAEL CACOYANNIS & MIKIS THEODORAKIS
Legendary composer Mikis Theodorakis, whose scores for Michael Cacoyannis’ Electra and Zorba the Greek, as well as Phaedra (partially filmed on Hydra and starring Melina Mercouri), cemented his legacy, remains a towering figure in Greek cultural history. As part of ArtCinema Hydra, participating composers will be invited to analyze and recompose 5-minute scenes from Girl in Black and Electra, exploring Theodorakis’ masterful scoring and reinterpreting it for contemporary expression.
Workshop details will be available on September 15.
TRADITIONAL GREEK DANCE

On the morning of Saturday, October 4th, ArtCinema will host a Greek traditional dancing workshop for those who plan to take part in that evening’s festivities at the BOY ON A DOLPHIN tribute night.

BOUZOUKI WORKSHOP

This intimate gathering will transport audiences back to simpler times by bringing together local bouzouki players in a picturesque setting to discuss the history of early 20th century instrument and play traditional Greek songs designed especially for its strings.

PERCUSSION WORKSHOP

At ArtCinema’s popular community event, Cinema & Souvlaki Night, legendary percussionist Alekos Roupas will lead a percussion workshop using unconventional percussive tools. Guests are encouraged to bring their rhythm and creative spirits to experience something truly unique, fun and community-minded.
